ahh yes yes..because hiccup wouldnt initiate at all.. and when he notices his own hand on jack he quickly retracts it (not fast enough tho) since jack grabs his hand, and takes his other hand and helps hiccup gain the confidence “hey its ok, see?”
theres also a lot of hesitation in the beginning simply because, well for me and hope at least— we feel that hiccup wouldnt be the type to explore in relationships— that, taking steps forward (strictly with regards to relationships) is a much larger step for him than anyone else. Throughout the movie, hiccup and jack would just flirt around and all with their sass quarrels, but this first kiss really seals it, that theyre TOGETHER— and thats fucking scary esp for Hiccup because “what if i fuck it up— oh gods what if i do though.”
If you squint you’ll see Hiccup’s worried face, and then Jack’s very brief smile that manages to ease his all of his worry. EEEP sorry guys i love analyzing my ships.
